Hi Zara..Its always nice to hear when someone has found 1 of the pictorials helpful, Carolyn is on her holiday at the moment in the USA; but I know she will be pleased to know that her pictorial helped you out.

Carolyn, I just wanted to thank you for all your tutorials... I am learning Inkscape, and your tutorials are great. I was able to take this tutorial on making scalloped circles, and create a gear shape, just by changing the small image that you use to go around the circle.
