I've posted a tutorial that will take you step by step through drawing an illustration of a key with a simple gradient. I use gradients quite a bit to give drawings more dimension. Here's the link to the tutorial.

I think the key would also work out great without the gradient and cut out in two different shades of grey. If you'd like a copy of the SVG, click on the link here.

The key you draw looks great. I am hopeless with gradients and will have to find time to try this out. Will you be doing a tutorial on using colour gradients? I always struggle with trying to add new colours in the gradient line in the correct place. hint, hint, :D

Carolyn,

I'll put that on my to-do list. I have trouble understanding gradients myself. I really need to take some time to master them. Sometimes I get "stuck in a rut" of using what I already am comfortable with and not learning new things! :)

I know the feeling well.
It is why I am having so much fun learning new things now you and Susan are experimenting and adding new tutorials.

In response to Carolyn's request regarding adding color gradients.... I've been doing a little research and found this You Tube tutorial. I have trouble watching videos because our internet here is terrible. But this one is well worth the effort! It's the best explanation I've found yet. I'll definitely be checking out more tutorials at the Little Web Hut!
