I have an inkscape image I made with bunch of different sized circles in different locations.
I want to swap out the circles for stars, and I want the stars to each be where a circle was, and where that circle was, I want the star to be the same size as that circle.
Is there a script or any other way to automate this? The image has over 300 circles, so I really don't want to do this by hand.
I know that there was a script for corel draw that could do this, but I don't own corel.
In that script, you just take one of the new object, do a search and replace with one of the old objects, and it automatically finds all of them and replaces them with the new one, adjusting the size accordingly.
Thanks for any help!

Thanks for looking into this for me Carolyn.
Based on what I read on those sites, it doesn't look like inkscape can do it at this time.

I did try a few things last night without any success. If your project is a one off, you could always download the free trial of Corel to make the changes and save yourself some time. http://www.corel.com/corel/product/inde ... id=5700006 I own Corel and could use find but the replace only seemed to relate to text and colour. If it was a font there is a script to swap the font in Inkscape. If you did a lot of projects where a shape had to be changed it may be worth changing the shapes into a set of fonts. Just in case you are interested Kay has two tutorials showing how to create a font in Inkscape. http://cleversomeday.wordpress.com/2010 ... -inkscape/ and http://cleversomeday.wordpress.com/2010 ... ape-dings/ The instructions are easy to follow and shouldn't take long to convert a few shapes into a font. Here is the link to the script if needed. http://code.google.com/p/inkscape-replace-font/ and the download page http://code.google.com/p/inkscape-repla ... loads/list I tried it out last night and it is easy to use. Here is a link to a lot of extensions available for Inkscape users http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... repository
