I know I have seen this somewhere and I have tried Flow into frame but Inkscape just freezes or shuts down which it does a lot with 48.1. I never had any problems with just 48 and somehow when I downloaded 48.1 it did not get rid of 48 so I just went back and kept using 48 not opening 48.1 anymore and now somehow my 48 has disappeared and now I can only use the 48.1. Anyway anyone have any suggestions for type to fit in a shape. Thanks for any help.

The following shows an example of what I mean and again I did try under text, flow into frame and cannot get that to work.

Hi, here is a short video that explains it very clearly - made by one of our members - CleverSomeday. I am still using Inkscape .47 so am unsure whether anything has changed.

I don't know anything about it either. But it does look interesting I think I will go on the hunt of a tutorial for it

I am another one who immediately thought of Kay and Heather.
It won't help with your current problem but Kay does have a post showcasing online programs with text in a frame http://cleversomeday.wordpress.com/2011 ... xt-tricks/

Brenda, if you do have two different versions of Inkscape on your computer it could be causing your problem. I have a few versions on mine and I find strange things happen from time to time. Inkscape 0.48.2 is the latest version available to download http://inkscape.org/ (top right of page) and it may be worth downloading to see if it will fix the errors. Or you could re-install 0.48 if you preferred that version.

Over the years if Inkscape has started acting strange and I have re-installed the program I find it often works better if I go to Control Panel>Add Remove Programs and remove Inkscape first. I am then guaranteed of getting a fresh install.

I did see in your question that you asked about the type /font to use for flow into frame. I find any font works. Did you want to know which font people prefer using themselves? I have only used flow into frame a few times and usually use a plain font like Arial so the highlight is the shape and not the font. Hopefully anyone else who uses flow into frame will offer their own suggestions.

Angela, I have seen people use flow into frame for recipe cards and they look great if a relevant shape is used, eg a pie for apple pie or a lemon for lemonade.
