Changing Defaults for Text, Shapes and Lines
« on: April 17, 2011, 07:07:39 AM »
Would you like to have a shape, text or lines to be the same every time you open Inkscape? The settings are very easy to change.

The first example shows how to change text.
I like to ensure my text will have a black fill and no stroke and I show the steps I used to change my settings.
At step 1 I used text but you can also use a shape.
At step 2 change the settings to suit your preferences.

The second example shows how to change the default settings for a square or rectangle.
At step 1 any shape can be drawn.
At step 2 change the fill and stroke settings to suit your preferences. My example uses a fill and a stroke.

The third example shows how a freehand line can be changed.
At step 1 any shape can be used but I find it is easier to use a line.
At step 2 change the settings to suit your needs but I do recommend Fill is OFF.

The fourth example shows how many settings can be changed by drawing one shape and using it as the basis for changing all shapes, text, spirals and lines.

I hope I have shown enough examples to show how easy it is to change the settings. If you need further assistance please do ask questions.
