Welcome from Carolyn
« on: July 14, 2010, 05:02:13 PM »
Hi, I am Carolyn the other half of this forum. I would like to welcome everyone and hope you stay a while and join in. Please be patient with us as we have to learn how to use and set up a forum.

It does not matter which machine you use, this forum is all about the Inkscape software and how to use it to make suitable files for your cutter. I use Inkscape and Sign Cut and can only help with the Inkscape software. Angela has mastered cutting from Inkscape directly to her Silhouette. So between us hopefully we can help you create your own files too.

Hi All I'm Angela better known as Angel13 and I'm the 2nd half of this new Forum, Carolyn is the 1st half because if I had not followed her tutorials I would not be here....

I'm hoping that I can help all those Craft Robo and Silhouette owners out there to use their cutters in Inkscape. Between us all I'm sure we will have fun on the way as well.........

Hi Folks,

Andy -  Inkscape developer and user here.

I'm actually here becauuse I'm curious as to which cutter is the most appropirate for small vinyl stickers.  specifically that thickish black vinyl sticker stock which can be put on windows etc.

Carolyn, I'm an Aussie too - is there an equipment and stock supplier that you recommend, preferably in or around Brisbane?  I'm not fussed  on the model of cutter but would love something that has as few hiccups with inkscape as possible and not something that is overkill.

I have a project in mind that involves various 10-20cm stickers for laptops, windows, & desks.

I'm thrilled that this forum exists,  so thank you very much for collaborating on this.

Hi Andy, I also live in Brisbane. I own 5 cutters and you are welcome to come over one day and try them out to see which one you think will suit your needs the best.

why is it I log in but cannot see any images or files in the posts?
it says I don't have permissions to view them, bit pointless looking at the posts if that is the case (or joining in the first place)

having to post this here as I cannot find a way to contact anyone via email

Thanks

Hummmm... I can't, I get the attached. you can see the text in red saying I don't have the required permissions.

I'm on a mac (snow leopard) with chrome but that should not make a dot of difference.

and the top right says I am logged in (2nd pic).

Hi and welcome to the forum

I found you second sentence very rude "bit pointless looking at the posts if that is the case (or joining in the first place)" I read your comment yesterday and my first instinct was to say well if that is how you feel don't bother. However, I will give you the benefit of doubt that it was just bad wording and will look into the problem. Please be polite if responding to any topics on this forum.

The forum is way over due on updates which I am not capable of doing and things are going wrong. A few days ago another member contacted me with a similar problem.

Also, at one stage we had a huge problem with spammers and some people were copying tutorials and posting them on a closed forum with Inkscape tutorials. All new members from that date had tighter restrictions and a few people named for re-posting tutorials or shared files were moderated.

dragonlord666, I have had a look at your membership and for some reason you were in the group 'limited access'. I have now changed it to 'new user'

After you have made 10 posts you should automatically be moved to the group 'registered users' and will then be able to download shared files. Let me know if you are still having problems.

Hi
I'm new here and new to Inkscape, too.  Hoping to learn how to use it with my Silhouette Cameo.

Welcome Kitkat

Hope you manage to get ideas from this forum regarding inkscape for designing your own patterns and files that can be saved as SVG's to use with your portrait. I do have the cameo and I still do not use it for cutting, I'm still using my old Silhouette CC200  :D  :D  :D

Just holler for any assistance that you require and I know the other ladies will be glad to assist.
