Title: ready to go ??
Post by: silver shopper on August 26, 2010, 06:43:59 AM
HI all,
another newbie with a cricut create, sure cuts a lot and a craft robo at the ready !
I've downloaded inkscape and am looking for the elusive starting point.
I would like to be able to import line drawings into inkscape and turn into cut files - maybe a simple flower to start. ?
I can manage welded words in scal but want to be able to add welded words / text to pictures to have cut as one project.
I would like to concentrate on the create as it is my newest toy .
Many thanks in anticipation
sharen

Hi Sharen, Welcome!
Heather M's website (with tutorials)  http://imagesbyheatherm.wordpress.com/

Carolyn has many wonderful video tutorials on her blog.  I don't remember if she covers tracing, but she has some great videos on many of the things that you can do in Ink.   http://www.cuttwopieces.com/

Welcome Sharen,

Heather's tutorials are always nice and easy to follow. I have not covered tracing as many talented people have posted instructions already.

Kay at cleversomeday has listed a lot of sites with Inkscape tracing tutorials and you may find some of them handy in the future as you are learning Inkscape. http://cleversomeday.wordpress.com/images-to-svg/ (http://cleversomeday.wordpress.com/images-to-svg/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Kay at cleversomeday has a really cool way of using the paint bucket for tracing

I like Heathers tracing tutorial she makes it easier to understand the threshold thing

thank you all, have made a start - have a picture of a cat, managed to get the trace bitmap, then got the boxes to appear - now it looks like kitty swallowed a firework - bits of cat all over the screen !! I shall give it another go I think.
Many thanks for the welcomes as well - very much appreciated as dont feel alone with this scary programme and cutter that is smarter than me !
cheer all
