Title: Cutting from Inkscape
Post by: Bubby on August 02, 2010, 09:27:06 PM
I am having problems cutting directly from Inkscape into Silhouette. I select the correct printer but can't seem to select colours I want to cut.  Any suggestions or tutorials available ??

Hi Bubby,

Angela who is the expert at cutting from Inkscape to a Silhouette is probably at work (U.K.) and will help as soon as she visits the forum.
Angela has uploaded a a pictorial [lost link] on how to change the default cut line. Also there are a few more pictorials for Silhouette users here  [lost link]

JustJ, I am not sure.

What software did you get with the cutter?
Were you told to download and use Inkscape?

Inkscape is a vector program but another program is needed to enable cutting, so it will depend on the software you received with the cutter. Some cutters only provide the software for cutting and if this is the case you probably could use Inkscape. Do Redsail have a forum as they could probably help you better? I don't think anyone on this forum owns a Redsail cutter.

Just J, Depending where you bought it from will determine whether or not and what software/plug-in it came with.    If it did not come with anything and you want to use Inkscape you will probably have to buy something like SignCut Pro.   I have had a look at their website and they look as though they also have a special Dongle price for crafters but the cut is restricted to 20" x 20".

I think this is a Redsail site which gives some information on your cutter.  Perhaps you could email them or if you are in Australia I think Redsail have a Website there.

http://www.hflaser.com/Cutting-Plotter.html (http://www.hflaser.com/Cutting-Plotter.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

You can download a trial from Signcut but I would first email them and ask if it definitely works with your machine.  It is mentioned in the Redsail write-up so it probably does.

This is the overview of Signcut from their site.  http://www.signcutpro.com/SignCut-Produ ... rview.html (http://www.signcutpro.com/SignCut-Productivity-Pro/overview.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

This is where you can purchase the different licences: http://www.signcutpro.com/ (http://www.signcutpro.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

I think it will only work with .47 at the moment.
