Title: Logo for this Forum
Post by: PapaSue on August 09, 2010, 09:52:22 AM
I'd really like to have a Logo for this forum to post on my Blog to encourage more Inkscape users to join with us.

I propose a challenge to all the creative designers here to design a Logo (and maybe the code to use as a link) so that those of us with Blogs can "advertise".

Inkscape Cutting Design

How about it?

Susan Hold tight for a little bit, there maybe a name change; will keep you updated.........Ok Name to stay so lets see some Logo Designs that best represent this forum and its uniqueness....

Not unique or special and I am no graphic designer but I thought I would start the ball rolling.  Let's be having you ladies and gents and get us something special.  DOH!  Flowers might be bit too sissy for the fellow/s on the forum.

Perhaps I should have called myself theflowergirl and not technomum as I seem to have a floral bias!

Flower bias is good. I love the blade for the letter I, very ingenious.
I can see myself putting this one on a shirt and wearing it to craft shows as well.
Thank you for starting the competition.

I searched for how to make a button for your blog and found this tutorial.  It is for Adobe Photoshop but easily translatable to Inkscape since it is mostly design, size and the code.

http://www.musingsofahousewife.com/2009 ... utton.html (http://www.musingsofahousewife.com/2009/03/how-to-design-a-blog-button.html)

I created this just play around.  I'm positive that I'm not a graphic designer but I thought this might help get us one step further along.

Love technomum's hibiscus too.

Nice one, Susan.  I do hope we get some more entries.  I am sure we have many members with great ideas that just need a little push to get them started.  It would be lovely to see a great collection.

Gosh I love the blade for the I.  That is so smart, and who doesn't love hibiscus.

I like them both but I am partial right now to Papasue's it reminds me of a Neon sign and I love neon signs

Thanks Butterfly I had fun.  Since I didn't have to worry about cutting anything I was free to play with the Extensions and Filters.  You can do this for HOURS   The one I used is neon glow.  I see T-shirts in our future.

I just watched Carolyn's video on Halo Inset/Outset and could spend my day doing buttons playing with the effects.

http://cuttingtime.blogspot.com/2010/08 ... scape.html (http://cuttingtime.blogspot.com/2010/08/inset-outset-halo-in-inkscape.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

I sure hope others post designs for the Forum Logo so I can learn even more.

I've been playing around with the logo idea but am having trouble figuring out how to load the image.

I think I've figured it out, so here goes.  Please let me know if I did something wrong.....

Thank you to Susan, Techie, Suzan, and Carolyn for the kind words.  Thanks too, for all the input into this forum.  I am learning so much.  I have searched for a forum like this in the past and was never able to find just what I was looking for.  I am SO EXCITED!

Now if I can just learn how to blog...

Blogging is easy compared to the talent you have and the willingness to share.  Try it, but remember that you have to "feed" the blog fairly regularly and for me that's a challenge.  Sometimes I just don't feel creative.

I learn each day by frequenting this blog and the others I'm affiliated with.  Learning is lifetime endeavor and keeps us alive and on our toes.

Be happy and follow your heart.

I love all the entries so far and can see we have some very talented members.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to help design a logo.
I can see it is going to be very hard to choose one and I am pleased it will not be my decision. We will put up a poll for all members to vote to decide the winner.

Hi All,

We will also end this challenge on Saturday the 4th of September, 2010. So, if you would like to submit a design we can use to promote the forum please submit it before the end of the day on Saturday.

Thank you for entering such a great selection of logo designs. I think it will be tough to choose a winner.

We will add a poll on Sunday and will ask members to vote for their favourite and the winning logo will be the one we use for the forum. All we have to do then is work out how to turn it into a clickable link to use on blogs.

The voting will last for one week to give all members time to vote for their favourite.

We only have 10 votes so far.  What has happened to everyone? We need your input.  Ten votes from 260 members is far too few.
Title: Re: Logo for this Forum

I could vote again LOL
Title: Re: Logo for this Forum

I guess only those of us with Blogs really need one so we can direct more traffic here, but it would be great if the other members voted too....this Blog is for all of us.  Maybe Laura or Belinda will do some funny shirt designs to go with the new logo

Hi Susan, that is a great idea. I have a heat press and mug press and may make a few items up myself.

I LOVE the coffee mug idea.  Who can't figure out how to add it to a coffee mug?  Maybe me
I do have some etching cream and a clear glass mug so I could do it.  Does vinyl work on a mug?  Oh, I also have glass paint so with a stencil (you provide of course) I could paint it on.

Soooo many ideas, so little talent.

Thanks for the inspiration.

You girls are always thinking!  Aren't there decals that work on mugs?  I have printed out rub on decals.... but they wouldn't be water proof.  There must be something like that out there.

Maybe you should put up a new post to alert members that it's time to vote???  We do need more people involved.

Hi Susan
I have put my website logo on a coffee mug using outdoor signwriting vinyl. It has accidently been put through the dishwasher and survived but it can definately be handwashed.

Cheers

Hi Susan,

I have a mug press. I bought my first cutter to contour cuts items for my heat press and mug press and got sidetracked with pretty paper along the way. I am being good and I am starting to use my die sublimation printer to create heat set projects.

My SIL has put vinyl on many items such as her boy's lunch boxes and they are put through the dishwasher on a regular basis.
