The Future of this Forum:

The Inkscape Project will open its first official forum, on the Inkscape website, this August (2019). (Address/link will be provided at that time.) When that happens, new registrations will no longer be allowed in this forum and Inkscape support will be provided in the new forum. This forum will still be open for a while, so that existing topics can be finished, and existing users can have access to their contents. But all potential new members should register on the Inkscape website, and post their questions in the new forum, starting in August. If you have any questions or comments, you can post them here.

Since there haven't been any new messages for so long, and no one has ever replied to this message of mine I'm considering closing this forum entirely, in approx 6 months. If anyone has any comments about that, please feel free to post them.

« on: October 22, 2012, 03:41:24 AM »
HI all - not sure is this is the right place to put this

Quick video to answer a query on how to draw a line in SCAL3 and how to customise the dashes for a score line in a project

 http://youtu.be/SXpx3r7rvzA

there is probably an easier way to do it if so let me know

 Thanks
 Pandora :)

Pandora, I've used SCAL since SCAL1 and never saw this.  Maybe it wasn't available in SCAL1 but I checked and it is also available in SCAL2 and eCAL.  You could make some interesting designs with this.

Thanks Pandora.  I posted a link to  your video on the SCAL forum.

I played with it a bit and it works on Basic Shapes too.  I might try importing it into Inkscape and playing with it some more as I don't think this is possible with Inkscape but I will try it.

Who's having fun now?

Thanks Sue, on the original recording I did I included that part in - but the sound was all wrong - so just forgot to put it in on the 2nd run - thanks for letting folks know that - never tried to do it in inkcape but it works wonders when applied to any shape - and solves the fold /score line issue for me

best wishes

It works in Inkscape with the exception of being able to edit the gaps.  BUT you can vary the size of the stroke.  Pretty cool!  Thanks so much for the inspiration for me to try something new.

You do a very nice job with your tutorials by the way.

Thank you for the compliment - spend so much time finding how not to do things - try to spare anyone else the struggle
