Cutting a scanned image
« on: November 03, 2010, 02:36:55 PM »
I'd like to know how to cut an image that I've scanned into the computer. I think I have to trace round it but have no idea how to go about it in Inkscape.

Thanks

Ruth

Hi Ruth,

I found this on a Google search.  If you are using a Craft Robo it is easy enough to bring the image straight into RM and follow the instructions.  You will not need to use Inkscape.   It looks as though it is a tutorial in great detail.  I hope it helps.  It is for RM version 2.4 but I don't think much has changed.

Silly me, Thanks Technomum, I was so busy wanting to get to grips with Inkscape that I was forgetting RM was still good for some things.

Hi Ruth,  I think Angela has been working on it - unless my memory fails - me but it is not as simple as doing it in RM if you are cutting with a Craft Robo.  I am sure Angela will be around soon to tell you what you is possible.

Hi Ruth & Technomum

Cutting a scanned image in Inkscape is like Print and Cut and I have to say until someone comes up with a foolproof way of doing this in Inkscape, and cutting using a Craft Robo or Silhouette machine; then I would stay with using the Robomaster software for this particular function.

Have a look at these discussions http://www.inkscapecuttingdesign.com/smf/index.php?topic=118.0 on the second page I did try the SCAL tutorial on trying a Print and cut from Inkscape and you can see my results at the botton of that page, but there's nothing to stop you trying if you have the SD Craft Robo or Silhouette; because your machines have the Automatic feed so that may be the major differance when it comes too alignment of your Print and Cut.............
