line colour

Help, something has happened to my lines tonight (bezier, rectangles, stars etc). At first they started off really thick so I tried to rectify that, now some are narrow and black, some are narrow and grey and some are non existent! What setting should they be and how do you set a default line?  I struggle to use the Fill and Stroke menu that comes up on the right of the screen as it seems not very exact and I don't know what I'm aiming for on the sliding scale.  I usually manage by right clicking down in the bottom left of the screen.

I dont know how to do a screenprint, can't see it in FAQ.  I've gone back in and the thick lines have gone but I've still got a grey rectangle and grey calligraphic stroke though the setting in the bottom left says black.

Hi Ruth

I know I have a pictorial somewhere on my PC showing how to do a screenprint, but can't find it at the moment; but I hope these 2 quick pictorials will help you with your outline setting.
