Leafy notecard
« on: January 16, 2011, 09:59:23 AM »
I've been fiddling about with dingbats, trying out a few ideas.  Working through Lucille's tutorial about using them on a path (Thanks Lucille!  wonderful stuff) - even though I didn't end up doing that - I just created this little leafy notecard.

The dingbats are from JI Nature Bats and though I thought I was going to have to use the workaround suggested elsewhere in this forum to access them, I found that shutting Inkscape down and then reopening the programme made the dingbat font appear like magic.

Very pretty, thank you for sharing. Dingbats are a great source of designs aren't they.
I just visited your blog and have to make some of those useful bags as they look great.
P.s. I don't think Lucille is a member of this forum.

Ooops!  (note to self)....make sure I note where I find things <gg>

Glad you like the bags.  Went down a storm at Christmas and used one yesterday to take a few shiny red apples to a neighbour who invited us to lunch, which made a pretty gift alternative to chocolates.

Right, time to buzz over somewhere else and say "thank you" to Lucille!

I think we have all mixed up what forum or website we learnt something new. Not a problem mentioning it here at all. I only said Lucille is not a member so you could thank her in person.
As to the bags, I am already thinking of people I can make them for. I use to collect fabric before I started collecting paper and have been looking for a way to use up my stockpile.

Carolyn, I just spotted your location and can't help but refer to the heartbreaking images we're seeing from your neck of the woods.  Hope you have managed to stay dry and can only send virtual hugs to Queenslanders everywhere.

I managed to stay dry. 25% of the state did not flood and I am lucky enough to be in that zone. At least it is summer so power outages are not so bad.
It is poor Brazil that has it so much worse and those countries buried in snow. The recovery process is happening pretty fast here, it is just a shame lives were lost when areas flash flooded.
