The Future of this Forum:

The Inkscape Project will open its first official forum, on the Inkscape website, this August (2019). (Address/link will be provided at that time.) When that happens, new registrations will no longer be allowed in this forum and Inkscape support will be provided in the new forum. This forum will still be open for a while, so that existing topics can be finished, and existing users can have access to their contents. But all potential new members should register on the Inkscape website, and post their questions in the new forum, starting in August. If you have any questions or comments, you can post them here.

Since there haven't been any new messages for so long, and no one has ever replied to this message of mine I'm considering closing this forum entirely, in approx 6 months. If anyone has any comments about that, please feel free to post them.

problem saving pdfs...
« on: April 17, 2012, 04:31:35 AM »
Hi guys,

I am a casual user of inkscape and use it to design posters, banners and flyers for my retail store. I have finished a banner and I'm having problems with saving the file as a pdf. Basicall what is happening is that my logo and a box, that both have the drop shadow filter applied to them, disappear from the pdf file that is saved. If uncheck the rasterize filters box when saving, the images are there in the pdf, obviously without the shadow... If I remove the filters from each of the images then the pdf saves correctly. So the issue is obviously withe filter rasterization.

What options do I have to remedy this?

Hi, sorry I am do not know how to help. As most of us on this forum use Inkscape to creating files for electronic cutters it may be a while before someone savvy with software drops by the forum and can help.
What I would suggest is you visit the dedicated Inkscape forum as they have graphic designers and programmers as their members. They are the people with the knowledge and should be able to help you. http://www.inkscapeforum.com/ It will be better than waiting if anyone here can help.
I hope you find a solution fast and can go back to creating.
