The Future of this Forum:

The Inkscape Project will open its first official forum, on the Inkscape website, this August (2019). (Address/link will be provided at that time.) When that happens, new registrations will no longer be allowed in this forum and Inkscape support will be provided in the new forum. This forum will still be open for a while, so that existing topics can be finished, and existing users can have access to their contents. But all potential new members should register on the Inkscape website, and post their questions in the new forum, starting in August. If you have any questions or comments, you can post them here.

Since there haven't been any new messages for so long, and no one has ever replied to this message of mine I'm considering closing this forum entirely, in approx 6 months. If anyone has any comments about that, please feel free to post them.

Converting GSD to SVG??
« on: July 13, 2012, 11:28:23 AM »
Me again....I have thousands of GSD files from my previous wishblade ownership. Many are my designs which I'd very much like to keep. Is there a way to convert these files to SVG? I have about 10 that are dxf but the remaining are all GSD. I've heard dxf can be converted through inkscape but haven't figured out how. Thanks much.

Hi, Angela is our resident expert when it comes to GSD questions. I thought Angela had a tutorial showing how to do this but I cannot find it. I am sure Angela will be along soon and can help if you haven't already found the answer.

DXF files should import straight into Inkscape. However, I think they import in lots of pieces which is not good for cutting. Once again, Angela will be able to answer this question for you.

Technomum has written a tutorial and it can be found here http://www.inkscapecuttingdesign.com/smf/index.php?topic=286.0

There is a section on this forum you may find handy as it is for Silhouette and Craft Robo owners. You may find it useful if you encounter any other problems.

There is now a fairly easy way to do this with certain earlier versions of Silhouette Studio Designer Edition (not the free one). Julie has a detailed tutorial PDF on here MTC Tuts Yahoo group but you have to join to have access to it.
