The Future of this Forum:

The Inkscape Project will open its first official forum, on the Inkscape website, this August (2019). (Address/link will be provided at that time.) When that happens, new registrations will no longer be allowed in this forum and Inkscape support will be provided in the new forum. This forum will still be open for a while, so that existing topics can be finished, and existing users can have access to their contents. But all potential new members should register on the Inkscape website, and post their questions in the new forum, starting in August. If you have any questions or comments, you can post them here.

Since there haven't been any new messages for so long, and no one has ever replied to this message of mine I'm considering closing this forum entirely, in approx 6 months. If anyone has any comments about that, please feel free to post them.

inkscape to sign cut pro issue
« on: September 12, 2012, 05:10:16 PM »
When I have something as simple as a circle with a line through it. i have the lines #9.000 thickness in inkscape but when I export it to sign cut pro the then #9.000 thickness line is now just really thin. I did notice it does it does the same in display mode-outline. How do I get the lines to stay their normal #9.000 thickness so the cutter will cut on both sides of the line and not just down the middle?

Are you saying that you want to cut an inside and an outside line ?

  as in this ?

If so you need to make two circles - one inner and one outer - that will do the trick  :)

No when I make one cirlce and I clear the center of it and make the one line 9.000 thick. the machine is only cutting down the center of the like and not on the outside and inside of the now bigger image.

Or am I going to have to make 2 circle to make that work?

I hope I read your question correctly. As I understand, you drew a circle and increased the stroke width and want it to cut as it is viewed in normal screen mode. As you have already mentioned it will only cut a single line and that single line will be visible in outline mode.

If this is correct you only need to do one more step to have it cut the same as you see it on the screen.
Select the object and apply Path>Stroke to Path.

I am still here. My holiday starts on the 26th.

I think most Inkscape users would use two circles to achieve the same task. I am lazy and prefer not use maths to work out the two sizes needed,  :D

This way we have given Inkscape users two options to complete the same task.
