Long Absence
« on: December 19, 2013, 05:38:56 AM »
So sorry for the long absence. I have only been able to use my phone for the internet for ages. The first week of October my computer died and I lost 3 months worth work and photos. It took a few weeks before I bought a new computer and then the fun continued. To cut a long story short, I hate Windows 8. As of a few days ago I managed at long last to install Inkscape and get it to work without making my computer act crazy. I have not installed Signcut or MTC yet, so I still can't cut. I guess there will be no homemade Christmas cards created by me this year.
I can't believe how much I have forgotten with not using Inkscape for a few months. Hopefully I will find time to play as soon as Christmas is over.

     I know what you mean with the windows operating system, I'm just getting use to using Windows 7 on my new PC, still have the Vista on my old workhorse PC that I'm going to have to reformat to factory conditions then try and upgrade to win7, not looking forward to having to do it but it needs to be done.I do have my most important files backed up but still scare to do the deed.....Anyway just in case you don't hear from me for the remainder of 2013.......

I wish you All a Very Merry Christmas and a Better Healthier New Year......

Carolyn,  So sorry about your computer, but it was a good reminder to back up my stuff.  I had way more files than I realized that hadn't been backed up yet.  I can't imagine going long term without internet.  My parents were without for quite a while and they were going crazy without it.  Everything is so web centered now that the assumption is that everyone has internet available, and that just isn't so.

Angela, if you are switching to Windows7 and use a lot of fonts you will want a font manager since the old trick of opening the font and then your program won't work with Win7.  The fonts have to be actually installed unless your program has a temp install option.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that they have a happy and safe new year.

Hello all. It's so good to hear from you ladies. I too have been out of the business of crafting lately. I am really busy with my job...... which I try not to complain about since there are those that do not have one and need one. To make up for my lack of attention to my usual crafts, I have taught myself to do some basic crocheting which I can do while sitting in my comfy chair after work.

We are currently at our home but have been running all over the continental US (slight exaggeration) seeing family. It is a special time of year for making memories and I am thankful to still have both of our "mothers" and am enjoying the blessing of our grandchildren.

Now that I'm back home, I've been looking at the Silver Bullet cutter and wishing, wishing. ;) Hmmmm......

God bless you all as we bring in the new year!
