The Future of this Forum:

The Inkscape Project opened its first official forum on its website this month (August 2019). https://inkscape.org/forums/ In an effort to combine all the different forums into one, this forum will no longer be accepting new members or new messages. However, it will remain open for a little while, for existing members, to have access to their contents, if they need them.

Any potential new members should register on the new forum, and post their message there. There is a special board for questions about using Inkscape for cutting machines (of all kinds). (https://inkscape.org/forums/cutplot/)

If you have any questions or comments (and you're an existing member) you can post them here.

Although I've been planning to put this forum in read-only mode, at the time of this transition, unfortunately, my personal circumstances have changed, and I won't be able to host this forum much longer. I'm not sure about the time frame. It could be as soon as the end of 2019, or as long as a year from now. If anyone is interested in taking it over, please contact me.

Creating and Adding Custom Patterns to Inkscape
« on: January 09, 2012, 12:51:01 PM »
New project for you Carolyn. :P .  Now that we've found Pattern Cooler and you all who cannot add patterns to the image in your cutting software like SCAL and eCal might be able to add the pattern to Inkscape to P2C.  I'm not trying it since I don't need it but I challenge Carolyn or Kay to work it out from this tutorial and let us know if it can "safely" done with Inkscape.

I'll wait.

You could be waiting a very long time. I have tried so many things with pattern in Inkscape and there is always a join where the tiles meet. I only use pattern if I create my own design in Inkscape and use a transparent background.

As you seem to be having fun with patterns here are a few more sites that may interest you. I have been playing with them on and off since Christmas and will be posting about them on my blog as soon as I can get the information written up.
http://www.colourlovers.com/seamless this site has a downloadable program that can be used free for a while (the download has more options). There is also a section with patterns that can be changed http://www.colourlovers.com/patterns. I just haven't tested they can be downloaded.

Edit, I found out you can download any tile created by others if you select preview in the options. I am not sure that is the idea of the preview though, so be careful if you do download any of the tiles.

Same issue as Carolyn. I get the white line between my patterns in Inkscape. I am a pattern freak and this is the one thing I would really love to see fixed in Inkscape. I did successfully add patterns to Inkscape a long time ago using the procedure in this tutorial (or something similar involving editing the xml file), but since they don't work I never tried it again.
