The Future of this Forum:

The Inkscape Project will open its first official forum, on the Inkscape website, this August (2019). (Address/link will be provided at that time.) When that happens, new registrations will no longer be allowed in this forum and Inkscape support will be provided in the new forum. This forum will still be open for a while, so that existing topics can be finished, and existing users can have access to their contents. But all potential new members should register on the Inkscape website, and post their questions in the new forum, starting in August. If you have any questions or comments, you can post them here.

Although I've been planning to put this forum in read-only mode, at the time of this transition, unfortunately, my personal circumstances have changed, and I won't be able to host this forum much longer. If anyone is interested in taking it over, please contact me.

Alternate Tiled Clones with Color video
« on: July 06, 2011, 04:57:48 PM »
Well it ain't perfect and I still have a lot of questions about how/why/what those numbers in the Tiled Clone panel mean but I did do the video on the pattern.  The words Happy Birthday was about the same except you have to do some rearranging as the words are longer.  Maybe I'll figure out the numbers and get back to you.

In the meantime, here is the link to the post/video on my blog.

Some discussion would be helpful to smooth out the steps and have less trial and error in getting it just right.

thanks,

Oh, Susan, this is just a fantastic tutorial!  I've been playing with this all morning and really enjoyed doing it.  I also cloned the text and then lined them up as best as I could and grouped the text and shapes together.  They came out great!  Thanks again.

You motivated me.  So, I went and played.  Do you suppose anyone would "pay" us to make these?

Thank you for your kind words, they are really appreciated!

It's so nice to be able to inspire others to do things.  I get an awful lot from all the tutorials here and feel a bit guilty that I can't always give anything back.  So, if posting my work does that, then I shall keep the files coming!

I'm sure if you created some of these 'papers' and put them together you could sell them... imagine, you could be producing CDs soon with your own collection!  Wow, bring them on!

Looking forward to your next tutorial.

Susan, I need to blame you for the loss of a whole day.   Oh! and the night before. I mainly use Object to Pattern for background papers but I think you have managed to convert me. I am going to add a new topic in Fill and Patterns http://www.inkscapecuttingdesign.com/smf/index.php?topic=534.0 so we can all share our discoveries.
