Cut from Inkscape-Craft Robo/original Silhouette (not Cameo)
« on: August 01, 2010, 03:20:26 AM »
As this forum is now set up, it makes sense that my blog goes back too showing my craft bits and pieces and the Inkscape pictorials are transferred here. I will try and make sure that I also attached a downloadable version of the pictorials......

Once again if there's any part of the pictorials that you want clarified, just get in touch. For this particular pictorial I have used one of my own Nestie files to explain how too cut from Inkscape, and please excuse any typo's you may see.........

OK here's the downloadable zipped file of the Pictorials below....I Hope.....

I have followed tutorial and cannot find Graphtec craft robo. I have Graphtec CC330L and it will not take me to the Craft robo controller page to cut, it only goes to final cut page but will not cut. Any suggestions?

Hi Judy

When you select File/Print in the Inkscape software, what appears on your screen; if possible can you do a screenprint of what happens?

Oh My Judy

I thought you had posted a question that I would not be able to answer, the next thing you do with the Graphtec logo highlighted is click the Preferance button and the Robomaster panel will appear. If you look at picture number 5 then you will see what to do next, holler if you get in trouble....... :)  :)  :)

Angela, its at step 7 that it doesn't come up. It goes straight to the lastready to cut screen and if I click OK it doesn't cut. Thanks for your help. I have such nice svg files but they don't cut well in robomaster if I change it to DXF first so was trying to see if I could get another way to cut them. Judy

Ok Judy
I can't quite see the bottom left hand side of your screen that is showing the Fill & Stroke Boxes, what I want you to do now is highlight the design; right click on the Fill box at the bottom of the page and select Remove Fill. Yes your design has disappeared don't panic. Right click on the Stroke box and select Black from the Drop down panel and now you should have a design that has a black outline which represents your Robomaster cutline. Also take note of where you have the design on your cutting page.

Aaahhhh I did notice on the screenprint picture that there were some fine details, and I do remember thinking at the time that you may be better off deleting some of the lines etc..........Hang on I'm going to have a quick look at the screenprint again......OK you will need to have a look at this pictorial http://www.inkscapecuttingdesign.com/smf/index.php?topic=71.0

Its a case of looking at the design and deciding what to keep and what nodes you need to move........

Hi Judy

Sorry I didn't get back too you, my Broadband internet decided to have a hissy fit and I couldn't get a connection to this website, so I had a siesta to prevent myself from throwing my PC out of the window!!

That design looks like it would make a nice vinyl cut once you have made a few alterations, next time you get a file that you are unsure about actually cutting; then it's a good time to load the blank copier paper and use the pen option and draw the design and that way you can judge what looks good from what doesn't.

I downloaded a snowflake ornament from the files this afternoon and just cut it directly from Inkscape, following your excellent tutorial!!  Woooohooo!  Brilliant.  Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to write such a detailed tutorial - believe me, I needed every step.

Now, Craftrobo was making a very peculiar noise as it worked...kind of singing...I'm going to have to get used to the noises and work out what's "normal" and what's "aaagh".  I also know what Craft Robo owners do in their spare time...pick bits of paper off sticky sheets and then off the floor  ;)  Time to get the vacuum robo going I think!

See Gill isn't it satisfying when you cut from Inkscape, no juddering, no blue light flashing, no pausing in the design cutting. And soon you will be designing your own files.

Hi, I have just joined and would like to download the pictorial tutorial as above.

Everytime I try to download the zip file - I get 'windows can't show web page'

Is there an easier way to get this file???  I would really like to cut from Inkscape
on my Craft Robo lite.

Many thanks,

Dawn

Hi Angela, I have followed your directions and gone through the trouble shooting on this thread but although my Silhouette makes a noise for a few seconds, when I press print, that's as far as it gets and it just stops.  Nothing is cutting

Any ideas, why this is happening :?:

And now Inkscape won't load any recent documents and it won't paste any designs onto the page.  :?

What is going on :x
