The Future of this Forum:

The Inkscape Project opened its first official forum on its website this month (August 2019). https://inkscape.org/forums/ In an effort to combine all the different forums into one, this forum will no longer be accepting new members or new messages. However, it will remain open for a little while, for existing members, to have access to their contents, if they need them.

Any potential new members should register on the new forum, and post their message there. There is a special board for questions about using Inkscape for cutting machines (of all kinds). (https://inkscape.org/forums/cutplot/)

If you have any questions or comments (and you're an existing member) you can post them here.

Although I've been planning to put this forum in read-only mode, at the time of this transition, unfortunately, my personal circumstances have changed, and I won't be able to host this forum much longer. I'm not sure about the time frame. It could be as soon as the end of 2019, or as long as a year from now. If anyone is interested in taking it over, please contact me.

Hi Dizzydi

Sorry for the late response, are you still having a problem? I have to admit that I'm still using my Silhouette CC200 which is the 2nd generation Craft Robo, even though I have the New Cameo which I have decided to use when I have BIG projects to do for now.........

Hi DogCarbon....NO you can't cut from Inkscape to your Cameo, if you have 1 of the older Silhouette machines that used the Robomaster software then YES you can. But the the New Cameo machine has a different Driver upgrade I believe that does not work with Inkscape.......I use Inkscape to design my files and use Robomaster on my Old Silhouette for cutting, I have never been able to do a successful Print n Cut using Inkscape.....If I need a bigger design for my Cameo then I design a bigger version of the file on a 12x12 Inkscape document page and send it to my other PC as a SVG file to use in my Normal Cameo studio software....Hope this has answered your query....

Hi Again DogCarbon

I have been informed that you are able to use the MTC software program on your Cameo, but be advised that you would have to purchase the MTC software first..........But as Inkscape is FREE, once you get into the swing of designing your files and changing them into cuttable files for your Studio software; all the extra steps will seem insignificant......If you need more help just HOLLER......

Hi all
First time on here for me so be gentle & try & excuse my dumbness ;)
I have just got a silhouette cameo & using the provided software it works fine
But when i try & follow the guide on page 1 to let me cut from inkscape i get to the bit when it says click on controller button & it just opens a box saying "craft robo controller has not been installed" & wont let me go any further
Very confused to say the least
Can any one shed any light on where im going wrong or what i have forgotten to do please?
I will say i am far from being a computer expert so be gentle
Many thanks in advance
Gainsy

Hi Gainsy

I think I remember somewhere on another forum there was a work around on how you could cut from inkscape using your cameo, but it may take me a little time to find the information and something tells may it may involve purchasing the MTC (make the cut software) but not 100% sure.

I have the original silhouette machine that used the robocraft software, that I can use inkscape with. When I actually do use my cameo, I first do a design in inkscape and then import the design into a png file that I can open and trace using the cameo studio software.

I could do some pictorials showing how to do this if you are interested, but it will have to wait until 27th December when I am at home with some free time to play.

Thanks Angel, i will keep looking for a solution, a tracing guide would be most appreciated when you have the time, xmas is a busy time so no worries if it isn't till the new year :)
I could upgrade the silhouette software to allow me to use svg files but i kind of like inkscape now so don't really want to change as yet, i do have illustrator as well but that confuses me
I got the cameo to cut paint masks out of adhesive vinyl for my airbrush business, i spray radio control car bodyshells & some of the logos i cut are tiny, glad to say the cameo has been awesome with these so far
This is the sort of thing i paint, hope ok to post here

Hi gainsy

Did you see this pictorial?: http://www.inkscapecuttingdesign.com/smf/index.php?topic=733.0  hopefully this should solve your problem with cutting your design using the studio software, yes its a little long winded but once you get into the swing of it; it does get easier......

Let me know if this was any help to you.....

Does anyone know how to get the Silhouette (Graphtec CC300) to detect the registration marks in the printer preferences window?  It says it fails each time.

Hi Jakobud

Can you do a screenprint of what is happening, because I'm not sure what you mean by: detect the registration marks in the printer preferences window?

I found a tool able to send SVG file to the CAMEO; this is Tux Plot.
The next release will fully support the CAMEO cutter, so far, you have to set the tool to HPGL and use the conversion table as shown on the attached file.

Warning: This tool works with Linux Debian distributions, for Windows... just use the proprietary software...

I'm now working on a way to use the Registration Marks, any information on this field will be welcome!

Sorry I wasted so much time trolling this Forum. I appeared to me that what you all were saying was that this WAS Possible...?
Perhaps someone ( Forum Admin ) can make this post a "sticky" so other hopeful CAMEO owners won't be mislead by the Title of the Topic.
So, I cannot cut with my Cameo from Inkscape....

When this forum first started there was no such machine as the Cameo. The title does state Silhouette. If I can work out how to change the title I will to clearly state not the Cameo.

If I can't change the title, it won't matter for much longer as this forum will be closing in less than a year. We are run by volunteers and do not need to have someone rudely tell us off.

I am admin, I do not own a Cameo, so cannot comment on the machine. This is primarily an Inkscape forum to help people learn how to design cutting files in the program. We cannot cover every machine and be expected to keep up to date with changes in models. If you are using Inkscape to design, this forum is full of good tutorials and help, all added by volunteers.

Hello all,

I'm testing the new release of TuxPlot for Linux operating systems.
The developer did a tremendous job for this release; the Silhouette protocol works perfectly and the registration marks are recognized. More TuxPlot 4.0 can implement Extension in Inkscape that provide you the tool for making the registration marks.

I enjoy it, you may find the software and training video at this page: http://www.securetech-ns.ca/camm-linux.html
