Super beginner tutorial
« on: November 26, 2011, 09:30:04 PM »
Syllie posted a comment on my Twitter account about her tutorial on drawing a Country Girl.  I've tried and tried to leave her a comment, Laurianne has, but I cannot SEE the "stupid", my opinion code letters to tell her how good the tut is.

So, if Syllie ever joins up I'm first in line to do the ooooh's and such. Check it out.

Thank you for the link. It is a great tutorial and even people like me who have no drawing skills could follow the tutorial and make a successful country cutie.

BTW I had to hit refresh a few times to read the code myself. It sure is hard to see.

Thnx for the link. I finished my first Inkscape tut.

Wanted to print and cut the result, but didn't know how to do this in Inkscape. By opening in Silhouette Studio I lost my Country Shading filter results. So need to read some more tutorials. This was a nice start.

I just joined this group this week.  I got SCAL2 back in May after going back and forth about it, but once I found out it was not going to be compatible with Cricut anymore, I jumped on it.  So glad I did!
However, since that time, I have been struggling with Inkscape, trying my best to learn it and use it to make SVG's, etc.  I used to think that I was reasonably tech savvy, but the sheer volume of options and controls makes my brain shut off!
Anyway, all that to tell you that I learned more in the Country Cutie tutorial than I have in half a year!  Woohoo - I'm on my way!
Thank you for the great website and tutorials!   :D

For some reason, my "add nodes" thing isn't working for my rectangle!  What am I doing wrong?!!

I can add as many nodes as I want to the head area!  It's so odd. :?

Hi Eve, my best guess is that you did not convert the rectangle to a path. Select the rectangle and do a path/ object to path.

Look at the info line at the bottom of the screen and see if it says path, not rectangle.

Let us know if this was the solution you needed.

Brilliant, thank you!  I'm so new to Inkscape, it's a very steep learning curve!
