Forum closed to new members

Hi everyone, Thanks to a constant attack by spammers I have closed the forum to new memberships.

Earlier today I changed it so new members had to be approved and since the change, Angela and I have been swamped with emails. Looking at the names and locations I suspect they are all spammers. I highly doubt a lot of Russians and Ukrainians want to join us   However, if that was the case and they are real people they would be welcome.

Until the problem is resolved any new members will have to contact us and tell us why they would like to join the forum. I am just letting you all know in case you mention us to friends and they then wonder why we won't accept new members. We will accept new members but we only want humans

As soon as I get time I will look into a more secure method we can use to let genuine members join immediately. In the meantime I suspect we may get a few unpleasant posts. I attempted to permanently remove all spammers but there were a few with normal names I was unsure about. Angela, Butterfly, Heather and I are keeping a good eye on the situation and will remove any nasty posts as soon as we see any.

Sorry to hear this.  :(  I get so discouraged with those who have to spoil things. I hope that you are able to resolve it soon!

I am so sorry for all your trouble with this. This is such a great forum and it's too bad that spammers have to make so much hassle for you.

You are not alone. They are attacking the SCAL forum like crazy, too. It wastes much valuable time keeping it clean.

Hi, I have changed the security settings and new members can join the forum once again.
Hopefully this time the spammers will have a harder time signing up.

LOL, thanks for reminding me I have to remove this post.
I have a lot of repair work to do to the forum but so little time to fix things.
