Applying Patterns to DigiStamps in Inkscape
« on: February 21, 2012, 05:20:22 PM »
I finally got a video done on how to apply seamless patterns to a digistamp (converted to a path) and posted it on my blog along with another one for eCAL/SCAL users.

It is not "great" as brain, eye, mouth and hand are not working too well these days but may be of use. The download is for the digistamp only, you have to collect your seamless patterns to use on your own.

Here's the finished project filled in, I did cut it in eCAL and it worked fine.  Would appreciate any comments that show up any "errs" I made  :D

Well that was interesting! But you mention printing and cutting with Inkscape, how do you do that?

BB, there is a print option under the file menu for everyone. Some cutter software allows cutting direct from Inkscape but not sure which one, maybe someone else will drop in and tell us.

The Black Cat cutters cut from Inkscape using Signcut. I print the image with registration marks and then place in the cutter, line up with laser and cut the cut line. Only thing is you must either have the print on a different layer or delete before sending to the cutter.

I know how to print from Inkscape and how to cut from Inkscape, I thought you meant print an image and then cut it out, which is what I do not think we can do with Inkscape?

Thanks all.  I think 4shared is changing the interface again as I can't get in either.

I'll attach the svg here.

On the question about printing/cutting from Inkscape.  I thought maybe you could

put the image on one layer lock it
the mat on another layer positioned over the image lock it
turn off the mat layer and print the chick.
Then take your printed paper and place it into your cutter just exactly the way it is facing.
Turn off the image layer and turn on the cut layer and cut.  that is the way it is done in SCAL and eCAL.

Try it and see if it works.  It looks like it would.
